Chelmsford is one of the 14 districts of Essex and happens also to be its county town. Its total population is approximately 120,000 and is still growing. “Chelmsfordians” are the term coined to refer to the residents of this town.

Hoffman’s and Marconi were two of its leading industries before the 1980s. When these two went through a decline, however, the buildings were converted to health clubs, apartments and modern townhouses. But since it lies at the center of Essex and close to London, it became a significant centre for distribution and administrative dealings.
