Billericay is a small commuter town in Essex, a county in the East of England. It roughly has only 40,000 people comprising its total population.
History
Based from the evidence found, it has been concluded that the earliest records of human occupation occurred during the Bronze and Iron Ages. There have also been some uncovered evidences at a number of locations that support the possibility of Roman occupation. Moreover, there is a great likelihood that a small cavalry fort existed at Blunts Wall. It was during the year 1921 when the name “Byllyrica” was first recorded.
Government
Billericay is part of yet another district of Essex, Basildon, though there have been a number of proposals to transfer it instead to the nearby district if Brentwood.
It is governed by a town council comprised of twenty members, elected in three wards. A town council for the youth is also elected in the town’s schools.
